The inaugural Competition was launched in 1982 by Sir Zelman Cowen, who was Governor-General at the time. Since then the Competition has enjoyed the patronage of many incumbents of this Office and we are honoured that Her Excellency is continuing that endorsement of our work to promote young musical talent.
